Updates!

Yarn Bowls Part 2

OK, so I haven’t updated like I thought I would. June got away from me and family distracted me for a week. When we came back the bowls that I expected to be bone dry were wetter than when we left! Thanks Pennsylvania for fighting with the Amazon for being the wettest place on earth.

So, I’m a little behind as I was expecting to come home and run four kiln loads of bowls for four days straight. That didn’t happen…we waited a week and kept candling bowls in the kiln, warming them up to let off some steam. We put two dehumidifiers in the garage to dry to them out. All in all it was a crazy couple of weeks.

Since we also have the ceramic tree business and we have a lot of orders coming in, we couldn’t just pause working on the trees to finish up the bowls once they dried out. So, on top of drying, firing, and painting bowls, we were also pouring, cleaning, firing, painting, firing, lights, and electrical the trees.

BUT! It’s finally happening, the first kiln load of yarn bowls is painted and in the kiln. Tomorrow we will do a kiln reveal with all the pretty bowls coming out. We even got a wireless camera to film with! No more camera phone for the kiln openings. I’m so excited to get it open tomorrow night!

After that, we do have to do another load of trees to get out another order or two but we should be able to get another yarn bowl kiln done Monday night.

That’s all the updates I have currently. Photos and yarn bowls to come. I’m hoping Sunday has some nice weather so that we can get some great pictures of the bowls so that I can get them up on the website soon!
